In 1796 Richard Windover moved his family and business to Grantham and expanded into the manufacture of coaches.
In 1857 the business moved again, to Huntingdon, to be nearer to London and the main lines of communication.
The manufacture of a coach wheel required an amazing degree of skill and precision.
The correct type and cut of wood has to be selected for each of the components. Precise measurement and geometric design was needed throughout.
